Remote Management Just Got Better !

When administrating Service Optimization platform, we use the old Remote Administration snap-in, which was developed using Visual Basic 6.

This snap-in is painfully slow and was designed in an era of smaller systems, so it can handle only small dictionaries and collections.

SOMng ( pronounced "S O Manage"  ) is built for Service Optimization systems from version 8.1.9 to the latest 8.3.

Paging

Editing object in large collections requires paging of the data. You can set the size of the page and sorting works with most columns, while paging.

Nodes

Editing the left pane tree nodes is done using proper dialogs (not a huge XML editing), so it is easy to add Folder nodes, Objects nodes, Collections nodes and Values nodes.

Events

Disabling events per transaction allows to modify objects without turning off system wide events.

Reference

Referencing an object from large collection (more than 1000 items) is not loading the data into a combo-box, but SOMng validates the item using its Object Reference.

Complex Object Reference

Setting reference to object with complex object reference (multiple properties) is easy, even with large collections.

Empty Value

When empty value under some column is better with (none) or (missing) test, just right-click on the column header to define the Empty Value.

Column Header

Renaming column header is just a simple right-click away.
